Im Schilf is a stage-like diorama depicting a fictional landscape, first created for the exhibition Pond Situation / Common Waters (2023). Installed behind a doorstep, the work functions as a portal into a parallel space that simultaneously attracts and unsettles. The rigid scenery, harsh lighting, and vividly colored reeds disrupt any sense of naturalism. The installation is entirely constructed from PET, foregrounding the artificiality of the diorama while drawing on pop-cultural references to science fiction. For the 2024 Rundgang, a curved mirror foil was added, repeating and distorting the reeds and water surface to create the illusion of endless space and intensify the work’s surreal, disorienting effect.

Im Schilf ist ein szenenhaftes Diorama, das eine fiktive Landschaft darstellt und erstmals für die Ausstellung Pond Situation / Common Waters (2023) geschaffen wurde. Hinter einer Türschwelle installiert, fungiert das Werk als Portal in einen Parallelraum, der gleichzeitig anzieht und beunruhigt. Die starre Kulisse, die grelle Beleuchtung und die grelle Farbe des Schilfs brechen jeglichen Eindruck von Natürlichkeit. Die Installation ist vollständig aus PET gefertigt, wodurch die Künstlichkeit des Dioramas zusätzlich betont wird. Für den Rundgang 2024 wurde eine gewölbte Spiegelfolie hinzugefügt, die das Schilf und die Wasseroberfläche wiederholt und verzerrt, um die Illusion eines unendlichen Raums zu erzeugen und die surreale, verwirrende Wirkung des Werks zu verstärken.
